This is SPARTAAAAA!!!

About a week ago I made a really stupid decision that involved me causing physical and emotional harm to myself just because I watched some video of men and women a lot more in shape than me looking awesome and running through mud, water and barbed wire. :)

I found out that as a volunteer I could run in it for free, which was good since it would have cost over $150 to sign up for it just as a participant. Unfortunately, before I was even one mile into it, I knew I was way in over my head, but I was able to make it through all 12+ miles alive. Definitely the hardest thing I've ever done.

Despite all the hills, the barbed wire, the dry 95 degree weather, and lots and lots of running, I can say that it was worth it, although I don't plan on participating in another one in the near future/ever.

I've been accepted to go with International Language Programs this January to teach Chinese children some English. Lesson one: The Cougar Fight Song, "Where is the bathroom," and "Bazinga."

Dawes

On Tuesday, Jessie and I went to Salt Lake to see Greg Laswell and Elizabeth Ziman in concert. Elizabeth opened and played a cover of When My Time Comes by Dawes. I had never heard it before, but it has quickly grown on me. Here it is:

6.2 measly miles

On Monday I ran in the Memorial Day "Run of Remembrance" 10k. I fulfilled my goal of finishing in under an hour and after crossing the finish line I spent the rest of the day hobbling around, laying on the floor and feeling grrrreat!

I've been running recently and I'm not sure where my motivation came from, but the more I run, the more I enjoy it. I'm currently training to run in a half marathon on June 9th and am definitely not quite ready yet. My goal is just to finish with all my bones, muscles and tendons in working order. I think by the end of the year I'll be able to keep up with this guy:

The Smuggling Gang

As part of the amazingly amazing movie club that I am a part of, I've been able to watch several movies that have really grown on me. One that definitely deserves some honorable mention is:

The Brothers Bloom

It's a fantastic movie with n story-line of two brothers working as con artists. They plan a con within a con that ultimately ends up with a great ending. I've watched it several times already and there's always something new that I didn't notice before. It's just like reading the Book of Mormon! Maybe Ill just count this movie as my scripture study.

Also, I really like the soundtrack:

It's a cult classic that probably is not for everyone because of its mildly artsy content and charming nature. But for anyone who hasn't seen it and wants to watch it, let me know and we'll call a movie night.

5. Something You Wore

I wore this once.

Photo drought

I haven't been able to use my camera recently because the charger has run off and I obviously can't use my camera until I find it. Chargers usually hang out in outlets. I checked all of them. It's not there. Any information on its whereabouts will be greatly appreciated. Until then I'll be using borrowed cameras.

Retrospect.

Things are a-changin. Always. It's weird to look back and see where I've been. This blog post is dedicated to the changes of the past few years. I've come a long way and been a lot of places since I started college. So here is a short picture journey of where I've been and what I've been doing every January for the past few years. I started with the now and went backwards. To see the progression, start at the end and move up!

January 2012
